Johnny Shoes
Johnny is a guitar and mandolin picker and singer/songwriter from Boise, Idaho. Born in Brooklyn, NY, his journey from there to Idaho provided ample source material for songs and stories which he started putting on paper in the last three years. After running Boise’s local guitar shop for 26 years as well as playing solo and in
bands along the way, he has turned his full attention (or obsession) to writing and performing his own songs.
He is the winner of the 2009 Guy Clark Songwriting Contest, and is a regional coordinator for NSAI (Nashville Songwriter’s Association International.)
In days gone by Johnny has performed and/or recorded with Rosalie Sorrells, Belinda Bowler, Pinto Bennett, Chris Wall, Curtis Stigers, Muzzie Braun and even had the honor of performing with Steve Goodman. He has also had the pleasure and privilege of opening for John Prine, Guy Clark, Reckless Kelly, Asleep at the Wheel, Robert Earl Keen, David Bromberg, Tim O’Brien, Justin Townes Earle and Sam Bush.
