The Fabulous Chancellors

The first stirrings of The Chancellors occurred in 1959 with Dale Rich and Tom Lowe, and from that year through 1964, the boys ascended to become one of the Northwest’s most popular groups. In 1967 The Chancellors moved to Pocatello and underwent several changes, including the addition of Monte Saxton. The group returned to Boise but disbanded in the early 1970′s. However, after nearly two decades of oblivion, the group was resurrected by Ross Miller and former Chancellor, Lou Mathews. The group returned to their stature as one of the region’s most popular rock combos. This quartet recorded a complete album of all-original songs, and Fraternity Records released two national singles: the classic rock tribute “(Me and My Baby Like) Old Songs” and the tongue-in-cheek “I’m Cool”. The Chancellors of the mid-1990′s was a septet which featured three lead singers. This group produced two collections: Timeless in 1995 and Good Time Rock and Roll, Vol. 1 in 1996, both on the Ars Noel label. The latest lineup of this group continues to rock the Northwest today. The Fabulous Chancellors were voted the “Best Band in the Treasure Valley” in the 2006 and 2007 Idaho Statesman Readers’ Polls and have had the pleasure of performing on four Caribbean cruises with Bobby Vee, The Turtles, The Original Comets, Gary Lewis, Gary Puckett, Bill Medley, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Davy Jones of the Monkees, Jan & Dean and The Guess Who.
