Obscured By The Sun

Obscured By The Sun is an instrumental high desert rock trio from Boise, Idaho. Initially formed in February 2013, Obscured By The Sun has been driven purely by the desire to create dynamic music with abnormal sonic textures. They have been able to develop a signature sound by not shying away from the challenge of filling musical space with just one guitar, one bass and one drum set. OBTS is, at its essence, a musical expedition that continues to venture further and further away from common and convenient musical structures. This boundary-pushing approach comes from each members’ collective interest in obscure film scores, fuzz and visually stimulating sound sources.

Pravda’ s sound combines the best of Old & New Progressive Rock with tinges of Jazz and Classical influences baked with Heavy Metal drive and stomp mixed with the looser Jam band influences.

Pravda has released 3 CDs.
Their third CD, Monophobic, has the group progressing even more as musicians and song writers. The CD has abundant epic spaces reminiscent of Pink Floyd and powerful chops in the vein of Dream Theater. A true aural feast.

Their second CD, Walking Through Walls, is a powerhouse of rhythmic, melodic, virtuosic, complex composing and playing.

The first CD, THe Echoing Sounds, is a concept CD of war and the struggles to find one’s own moral ground amidst the brutality of war. Told through the eyes of a young girl, a priest and a soldier.

Storie Grubb

Some would say…Neil young meets the Pixies, with a theatrical edge. Storie Grubb and the Holy Wars is not so much a band as a project, integrating art work and stage esthetics. Their lyrically driven songs will both tug at your heart and make you wanna dance while wondering, ”what have I done with my life?”. They have been playing in Boise, Idaho for a little over a year now and have shared the stage with the likes of, Elf Power, Nurses, Tremulants, Finn Riggins, and Le Fleur amongst others.
Fans can expect an EP to be released in the near future, but in the meantime…enjoy their ongoing release of fun videos that take you to the corners of Storie’s mind, and live performances and appearances.

Ta8nted Cantaloupes

Ta8nted Cantaloupes, the irreverent, musical experimentalists from The College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho are stirring up untold mischief with their long-awaited debut album – The Parasite Procedure. The band, formed in 2007, is made up of Jon Baker, Griffin Hewitt and Bert Martin. Since recording their first album, Ta8nted Cantaloupes have performed live at The College of Idaho’s annual Yotepalooza rock festival. The band plans to release a second album in the coming year.

Boise’s ThankyouForthis is a band created from over two years of sonic exploration. Their philosophy is to not focus on developing a sound based in any specific genre, but to incorporate sounds from many different musical styles. In fact, ThankyouForthis is not concerned with fitting into any generic musical categories at all – although most would probably categorize them as an “experimental rock” band. The trio often dabbles in electronic, world, post-rock, and improvisational soundtrack-style music while still conveying the intensity of a hard rock performance. Their influences are many – and the sonic possibilities that arise from their willingness to explore contradicting musical textures gives way to a band with a genuinely new sound in its earliest stages.
