Go Listen Boise
Current Projects:
Updated May 12, 2009
• Live and Local Series: Go Listen Boise fundraisers and awareness drives. We are continuing with our format of two shows in one night (one all ages event, the other 21 and over) and we have a goal of rotating to include as many local venues as possible throughout the next year.
• Go Listen Boise, Inc. Website: www.golistenboise.org - Publicly accessible local music database and calendar of events. This database creates accessible contact information available for people trying to book local music and organize local events. Here everyone (musicians and non-musicians alike) can also be able to stay abreast of Go Listen Boise news and happenings. Please create a profile now if you haven’t already.
• AA5 Local Openers: Go Listen Boise has arranged for stage time and payment of local opening acts for the entire 18 week Alive After Five Concert Series in 2009. We hope to be able to do the same for many years to come, and thank the DBA and the City of Boise for their support in this idea.
• Go Listen Boise booth with Think Boise First: info booth each Wednesday during AA5, 4:30-8:30 pm, June – Sept.
• Go Listen Wednesdays/Live Local Wednesdays: From our booth at AA5 we are promoting as much local activity as we can with a focus on trying to get as many bands as possible working after AA5 each Wednesday night. From our booth we can display a Go Listen Wednesday calendar of events for the rest of the evening. We are currently working with venue/business owners to try to promote this local music/local business focus for Wednesday nights.
• Boise Buskers “Making Change in Boise”: Also in conjunction with AA5 and Go Listen Wednesday’s, but hopefully taking shape throughout the downtown core, we are trying to educate and promote the idea of busking in the streets of Boise. Our city is so safe, and our downtown core is so pedestrian friendly, why shouldn’t the streets be filled with music?
• Hold It! Local! We are currently creating local playlists that can loop on the City of Boise’s phone system as their hold music. We have arranged with the city to pay the artists a flat rate for the use of their music in this format. We are very excited about the partnership and support between the city and our organization!
• Idaho Earth Fest, Idaho Green Expo, and other major event music coordination: Go Listen Boise has been asked by several organizations to help arrange for local music at their events.
• Downtown Boise Kiosks: GLB will develop a Kiosk program in Downtown Boise in 2010. Local artists, following a general theme, will design six kiosks, each of which will provide space for local event posters and flyers. The program will be on going and will require maintenance and upkeep. Non-profit status for GLB will allow the organization to apply for funding support to ensure the program’s success.
